Don't Give In! is a children's book, chocked full of life lessons, about a pair of adventuresome grade schoolers (Tyson and Sara) that set sail on a high seas voyage. When trouble finds them and their ship gets damaged, they become shipwrecked. They quickly learn that things don’t always go as planned, and when that happens a change of plans and change of direction are a must!
Stranded in an unfamiliar place with only a map, a compass, their backpacks, and their friendship, they go on a quest to find help and end up discovering so much more!
They acquire social skills and experience personal growth through life lessons disguised as adversities, challenges, and difficult decisions.
They experience dangerous trials, take risks, and feel a gamut of emotions: excitement, fear, joy, disappointment, loneliness, and even self-doubt, while feeling the pain of isolation and separation found in braving their own paths.
In blazing their own trail, they learn independence and that sometimes one's personal path guides away from the comfort of the people- and places- to which we grow accustomed. Conversely, they learn that new companions are often just around the corner. They are challenged by the threat of giving up and quitting during the tough times, but they hang in there and learn that the journey - bumps and all- are life's best rewards.
DON'T GIVE IN! is a self-esteem builder using rhythmic prose and vibrant illustrations, similar to the children's classic "Oh, the places you'll go!" by Dr. Seuss- to encourage perseverance and tenacity through life's ups and downs. It's a tool for early childhood development and a wonderful conversation starter about challenges, resilience, emotional intelligence, and mental toughness.
DON'T GIVE ! speaks to the heart of the human experience. This resilient message transcends age, race, gender, and socioeconomic status. From the preschooler to the college graduate, the stay-at-home parent, and even the CEO, its message can be related across many spectra, making it a great read and an even better way to help children (of all ages) navigate their world and experiences.
